Company representatives will be available to questions during the event. “We are excited to exhibit the Sky Power system at SPI. Taking about 1/3 the space of standard PV solar panels and the ability to derive heat from the unit makes it very efficient. In addition to the benefits of lower electric costs, the incentives being offered around the world reduces the users cost of the unit” says Rich Ralston, Public Relations and Media Manager for Sky Power Solutions.

The unique design of the Sky Power Solutions Residential system gives homeowners, for the first time, access to advanced concentrating PV (photovoltronic) technology combined with sun tracking while taking only about 1/3 the space compared to standard solar PV panels. Solar Power International (SPI) is North America’s largest, most comprehensive solar power trade show and conference. This annual, business-to-business event was the first of its kind in North America and grows bigger and better every year. Nearly 24,000 professionals from 125+ countries attend. With one out of five attendees coming from outside the United States, SPI is truly a global event. In 2011, over 1,100 companies from all vertical markets in the solar power spectrum will exhibit in a space of more than 1 million gross square feet.

The Sky Power Solutions residential solar power station will have the ability to reduce the average user’s monthly electric grid consumption by up to 30-40% with ZERO emissions and a ZERO carbon footprint; using only the power of the Sun. Visually appealing, the Sky Power Solutions system can easily be installed in most backyards taking less than one third of the space of conventional Solar panels. The entry level price point for a Sky Power Solutions-Concentrated Solar electric system is estimated to be $5,000 at release. Many financial incentives are available which reduces the user’s actual costs. Multiple units can be combined for increased capacity. Electric consumption in the United States is increasing at a rate that will outpace the anticipated expansion of the US Electric Grid’s capacity and Sky Power Solutions has identified this and is poised for expansion into the Residential Electric Power Generation market to allow end users to generate and return 30-40% of their electric usage back to the grid using “Net-Metering” and the Sky Power System.

Solar Energy Revolution Star Trek and The Wizard of Oz

apple 1984 300x168 Solar Energy Revolution Star Trek and The Wizard of Oz Remember that Orwellian scene? A new female prototype…running from convention, pastapple 1984 Solar Energy Revolution Star Trek and The Wizard of Oz the drones of conformity on the sideline…and than tossing the hammer of change – shattering what appeared to be an invincible bigger than life, fire breathing and all knowing figure to bits. And with that the personal computer movement  was off and running. Steve Jobs and the talented people within the service of that enterprise  captured something that drew us and continues to draw us closer. Empowering us with technology that was once only available to the few…but is now available to the many. Like Star Trek, Apple projects a world where the question remains: Do the needs of the few out way the needs of the many? And look at the new IPhone. What’s next…Beam me up Scotty?

Technological advancements always seem to outpace human ability to adapt to change. The solar, renewable energy and green movement is set to usher in incredible developments in the economy, people and the environment. It is not without some irony that we find ourselves as a nation struggling with outdated political philosophies and business practices that simply are not as effective as they once were.  The impact of the Occupy Wall Street and XL Pipeline protests are spelling out many of the broad political, business and environmental issues that America needs to address. Is it not apparent that solar and renewable energy is a solution?

Apple 1984 Ad

The legacy of Steve Jobs and the times we’re in now offer great possibilities. In simple terms look what they did, and continue to do they do extremely well.  Apple constantly innovates, redesigns and reduces the size of its devices; while improving  efficiency. Who knows one day the size of a rooftop solar panel system could be the size of IPhone or laptop. Could a solar energy system be portable enough to power your car?

One of Apple’s successful ad campaigns pronounced….“Think Different.” Yet in practice it appears Apple actually just doesn’t think different…they do different. Now as a new chapter in the life of America unfolds; we can all come to some understanding that in order to change the world, we must first change ourselves. By Richard Andrews

Solar reaction

alan friedman1 strip 150x150 Solar reactionNever under estimate the power of an idea whose time has come. Such is the way with solar and renewable energy as Los Angeles prepares for Solar Power International next week (10/12-14) the largest solar show in the US. Recently on the other side of the globe as part of the 350.org Global Work Party to held on 10.10.10, President Nasheed of the Maldives personally got on the roof of his official residents’ to help do the installation. This is a remarkable gesture and one that governors and mayors around America could heed now that President Obama has said he will put solar panels back on the White House roof. Reactions are coming in around the country including one from Rhone Resch, President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association.
“Putting solar on the roof of the nations’ most important home is a powerful symbol calling on all Americans to rethink how we create energy. It’s an example of how each one of us can improve energy security, employ Americans and cut energy costs. I can speak from personal experience that taxpayers will benefit. In the four years since I’ve had solar on my house, I’ve gotten a better return on my solar system than on my 401(k). SEIA has been working with the Obama Administration to install money-saving solar energy on government buildings across the country.

“Earlier this year, in a meeting with President Obama in the Rose Garden, I had the opportunity to point out to the President the large amount of available roof space on top of the White House, baking in the sun,” Resch notes about his direct appeal to President Obama to put solar back on the White House at an Earth Day ceremony in April. This appeal has been echoed by thousands of Americans across the country.
The Obama family joins the Resch family and hundreds of thousands of Americans who have already gone solar, including dozens of members of Congress, former presidential advisors like Reagan Secretary of State George Shulz and former CIA director James Woolsey. “Right now, solar energy is being manufactured in the United States. It is being installed on tens of thousands of homes each year across the nation in all 50 states. And it is creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of Americans. Obama’s decision to install solar on the White House is a prominent example of how solar is working for America today.”
